Scientific Name: Panthera uncia
Snow Leopards are native to Central and South Asia, roaming at high altitudes up on the mountain ranges. It has a number of unique adaptations for its home range. The characteristic thick, greyish to white coat allows for camouflage as well as reducing heat loss. Another interesting feature is its large nostrils which allow greater intake of air, critical for living at such high altitudes where the air is thinner. It also has a thicker tail than other wildcats, to increase fat storage and even use as a blanket for its face! Snow leopards are listed as vulnerable and threatened by poaching and habitat loss.
This is a Snow Leopard shaker charm with intricately hand-painted markings and gently blushed cheeks for extra cuteness. Inside the shaker is a glass flower bead and a snowflake glitter mixture. Matched with a standing cat-shaped keychain, and a variety of specialty beads. Complete with a matching leopard print mini puff ball.
Every wild cat is individually painted with love and care, and like in the wild, not all of them will look exactly the same. I hope this series will ignite your curiosity in wild cats of the world!
